We've built a few large wireless networks over the years - back and forth across Lake George, in downtown North Creek, and five acres of coverage at the Natural Stone Bridge and Caves, among others. For those and smaller venues, we typically do all the design, engineering and installation.
What made this Olympic Center project special was working closely with the IT staff at the Olympic Regional Development Authority. Thanks to their straight-up yankee ingenuity, we built a very complex managed wireless infrastructure that supports up to 100 access points and 500 simultaneous users - all for a fraction of the cost had it been built by an outside 'systems integrator'.
As much as I enjoy the technology (I'll get to that later), the real story is how the IT staff saved ORDA and the state taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars - and how they do that day in and day out...
